In 2023, our industry body awarded us with Australia’s Best Draught Beer Quality. After receiving the winning NSW’s Best Draught Beer Quality in 2019 and 2022, the cleanliness and taste of all our tap beer is officially recognised as the best across the nation. Our Bottlemart was also named finalist in NSW’s Best Bottleshop category too.

In 2018, we were nominated in 6 categories in the AHA NSW Awards. We were lucky enough to walk away as the winners with the the state’s Best Cheap Eat Under $15.

50 years strong in the heart of Shortland, Nick took over management of the Shortland Hotel in mid-2014, including the bottleshop, bar and bistro.

The Shorty Hotel is a suburban hotel located about a 15 minute drive from the Newcastle CBD and only a short walk to the University of Newcastle

A huge part of this success is our Head Chef, Fahim, who’s just one year into his role. With a background at a renowned Sydney steakhouse, Fahim has truly shown our community what he can do in the kitchen, creating dishes that keep our guests coming back for more.
